I am a web developer (ASP/.NET & SQL Server, PHP &MySQL). I have a friend that is purchasing a website written in WebDNA(currently maintained by Jay Van Vark?). The site is currently running =on aSun Server running Sparc, and the hosting company is charging an arm & aleg).=20I am technically in charge of taking over the site, so I am new to =WebDNAand wanted to get familiar with it. So I downloaded the Developer =Editionfor Windows and I was trying to install on my XP Pro machine and have =notbeen successful. The install runs, but the mapping does not take place =forthe .tpl files. I tried to do the mapping manually myself but to no =avail. So can anyone help me get that going?=20Now, in addition, I run a Ubuntu server here in my office, but I did not =seea build for that platform. However, I was surprised to see so many =platformspecific builds. I'm used to seeing generic Linux builds. Why are thebuilds so platform specific? Is it possible to run WebDNA on a genericLinux platform? That would allow me to significantly reduce my host =costs.=20And finally, is WebDNA generic enough across platforms to run the same =codeon Windows as it does on Linux/Unix? The database back-end for the =websiteI will be running is a CSV file that is being exported from FileMaker =Pro ona Mac. At this point, I am unsure which version of WebDNA I will need, =butI am assuming the Commerce Edition at a minimum.=20Anyway, any help you guys can give me to point me in the right directionwould be greatly appreciated.=20Sincerely,=20=20JD Readyjdready@risedev.comhttp://www.risedev.com
