I am a web developer (ASP/.NET & SQL Server, PHP & MySQL). I have a friend that is purchasing a website written in WebDNA (currently maintained by Jay Van Vark?). The site is currently running = on a Sun Server running Sparc, and the hosting company is charging an arm & a leg). =20 I am technically in charge of taking over the site, so I am new to = WebDNA and wanted to get familiar with it. So I downloaded the Developer = Edition for Windows and I was trying to install on my XP Pro machine and have = not been successful. The install runs, but the mapping does not take place = for the .tpl files. I tried to do the mapping manually myself but to no = avail. So can anyone help me get that going? =20 Now, in addition, I run a Ubuntu server here in my office, but I did not = see a build for that platform. However, I was surprised to see so many = platform specific builds. I'm used to seeing generic Linux builds. Why are the builds so platform specific? Is it possible to run WebDNA on a generic Linux platform? That would allow me to significantly reduce my host = costs. =20 And finally, is WebDNA generic enough across platforms to run the same = code on Windows as it does on Linux/Unix? The database back-end for the = website I will be running is a CSV file that is being exported from FileMaker = Pro on a Mac. At this point, I am unsure which version of WebDNA I will need, = but I am assuming the Commerce Edition at a minimum. =20 Anyway, any help you guys can give me to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. =20 Sincerely, =20 =20 JD Ready jdready@risedev.com http://www.risedev.com =20 RISE Development Group, Inc. 7433 La Quinta Ln Lone Tree, CO 80124 303.925.0047 Phone 720.226.0740 Fax 866.321.0944 Toll-Free =20 ------=_NextPart_000_0014_01C915EA.ABFA06B0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Message
