My desire is to provide students with an online class schedule they could browse through, adding classes to a hypothetical schedule [cart] along the way.Since I have little general database-building experience to draw from, I can't see the differences between 1.6 and 2.0 (incomplete docs?) well enough yet to know if I'm trying to do something WC2 won't be able to accomplish given the text database I have; it wasn't possible to produce a working class schedule of my own under 1.6.Our sked has about 700 classes offered over 2,400 ways: i.e., 700 records with VARYING total-field info per line. Some have add'l fees, some don't; some have prerequisites, some don't. Some are taught at any or all of our 5 main campuses, etc., etc. A class like Agribusiness 110 might be taught at one location only one time a week, but another like Biology 101 is taught 40 times across all five sites.See my problem? Will I have to make sure EACH record has the same TOTAL field number (even in 2.0)?: Simple Agribusiness would have blank tabs for all 40 class times? I'd have to figure out what the total possible number of class times offered is across all 700 classes, ditto for the other 5 variable fields, and insert these blanks in every record.??Also, assuming I get a text file pounded into shape (I have a mainframe pal who might be able to write a program to parse out the field data I need): How can I repeat some field items for individual classes on the Results pages? Multiple, nested [foundItems] tags?, e.g., ONE location, then 10 classes; another location then 5 classes, etc., all regarding the same class [sku]. Is it possible to loop within a record?Do I know what I'm asking?.Dave. -- d a v i d . h e r r i m a n Internet Applications Developer Metropolitan Community Colleges Kansas City, Missouri vox: 816-759-1345 fax: 816-759-1158 http://www.kcmetro.cc.mo.us mailto:herriman@kcmetro.cc.mo.us This button pushing really wears me out -- George Jetson Associated Messages, from the most recent to the oldest:
