It sounds likely that you either have a problem with your WebSTAR/SSL settings file or a conflict with another plug-in (though please make sure that this is the release version of WebCatalog from the StarNine site). When you get a chance, run Norton Disk Doctor and rebuild the desktop to make sure the computer is okay, then go into the WebSTAR/SSL folder and move the WebSTAR/SSL Settings file out of the WebSTAR/SSL folder. When you start up WebSTAR/SSL again, it will ask for your serial number and public/private key password, then create a completely new settings file. I would also take all plug-ins except the WebCatalog plug-in out of the Plug-Ins/SSL folder before starting it just to make sure there's no conflict.Next, make sure your suffix mappings are set up correctly for both WebSTAR and WebSTAR/SSL. In WebSTAR Admin, look in the Actions dialog box - the plug-in should automatically configure its own Action (it can't be changed), but for the CGI you should have an Action with an Application path of :WebCatalog:WebCatalog.acgi and a name of WEBCATALOG Add this if it's not already there, then go into the Suffix Mappings dialog. If you have more than one entry for .tmpl files, WebSTAR will use whichever suffix mapping comes highest in the list. If you are using the CGI, the suffix mapping should look like:WEBCATALOG .TMPL * * text/htmlwhile the one for the plug-in would look likeWEBCATALOG_PI .TMPL * * text/htmlIf you have them both, make sure the one you want to use is closest to the top of the list. Now, generally speaking, if you want to use WebCatalog with both WebSTAR and WebSTAR/SSL, you'll want to use the CGI - if you run two separate copies of the plug-in, they will each have separate information held in RAM that the other copy won't know about, and it's very easy to lose data or get confused. With the CGI, however, you can just run one copy that talks to both WebSTAR and WebSTAR/SSL, so all the data will be the same. The easiest way to set things up is just to run WebSTAR and WebSTAR/SSL out of the same folder, so they will share the WebCatalog folder that the CGI is inside. If you have WebSTAR and WebSTAR/SSL running out of different folders, however, all you need to do is make an alias of the WebCatalog folder in the WebSTAR folder, move it to the WebSTAR/SSL folder, and rename the folder alias so it's also called WebCatalog.I hope this helps - if you need further assistance, please let me know.Marc Eagle StarNine Technologies http://www.smithmicro.com/>_______________________________________________________________________________ >From: Carl Espe on Tue, Jul 1, 1997 10:10 PM >Subject: webcatalog problems with ssl >To: support@smithmicro.com > >We have webstar 2.0 and webstar/ssl 2.0 set up on the same server (one >copy of >webstar).
