Here is the data from my limited test on a 10k html file:#conn 21wc 30wc 21st 30st 10 0.73 0.82 0.25 0.32 40 4.5 5.2 0.29 0.48 80 9.1 9.8 1.02 1.0all numbers (except #conn) are average seconds taken to serve the file21 = Webstar 2.1 30 = Webstar 3.0b24 wc = with webcat 2.1.1 plugin st = static page, no webcat processingAs you can see, WS 2.1 is still faster than 3.0 here, but the margin is much closer now. Removing Webcatalog from the equation had a HUGE effect on performance (much more than I expected), and this page only contained minimal date math and a couple lookups. I ran a few other tests with various files and the results looked similar, so I won't bore you with those details. This really makes me wonder about the scalability of Webcatalog (1 sec vs. 9 sec is certainly significant). It also appears that Webcat is slightly slower running under WS 3.0.I'm still waiting to hear from Starnine whether 3.0 will gain (any) speed from shedding debug code before the release. The usual disclaimers apply here; your performance may vary depending on your configuration, but I would be happy to hear about it.These tests were run on a PCC 120Mhz 604 with OS 8.1 (our production server is a G3/233), 30mb allocated to WS's, status window closed, DNS off, and running ONLY the Webcat plugin over local ethernet.Comments?-Dale ________________________ ______________________________ | Dale LaFountain | mailto:dalel@dhorse.com | | MIS Director,WebMaster | web: http://www.dhorse.com/ | | Dark Horse Comics, Inc.|Phone: 503-652-8815 x324 | \_________ID97___________|______________________________/ Associated Messages, from the most recent to the oldest:
