So a data base opened via the acgi uses the acgi's ram partition and both copies of webstar can draw on it.Plugin 1 in webstar regular and a database is read in, the data is folded into the ram allocation of that running copy of webstar.Plugin 2 in webstar ssl version and a database is read in, the data is folded in the ram allocation of that running copy of webstar.Meaning add something to a shopping basket or write it to a database stored in ram on the regular version and when the customer shifts to the ssl version for check out, the ssl version can't read the data because it is in the ram folded into the regular version. You can't make an aliased call to a data base stored in ram. That is where the speed of webcatalog comes from over all the other shopping type systems available for webstar. It's doesn't have to read to the disk each and everytime. That is where you think you can use the alias, but it doesn't work that way with webcat. Filemaker at 1/10 the speed yes, super fast webcatalog no. The data is in ram until you close the data base, commit the data base or quit the acgi.=============================================== Gary Richter PanaVise Products, Inc. 7540 Colbert Dr. Reno, Nevada 89511 Ph: 702.850.2900 Fx: 702.850.2929 Email: grichter@panavise.com http://www.panavise.com =============================================== Associated Messages, from the most recent to the oldest:
