decrypt and summ problems

One of which is an id number, the other three are encrypted.What I would like to do is do a search of the id field user_id and then do a summ of another field which is encrypted encrypted_num, compare the values of encrypted_num to a value that I want to add to make sure it is not there, and if it is not there, append the db and if it is there do nothing.The problem, is that I cannot do a summ in my search because the info is encrypted.
