texte = I'm afraid you have probably munged up the entire server if you changed ownership on all files, instead of only the WebCat section. I would do a complete reinstall from scratch of the entire system (make a backup of your user files first, of course). Unix owner/rights issues are not for the faint hearted, or overeager.Once you have your machine back in working condition, you need to get a book on Unix administration. O'Reilly has one that is vastly out of date but still incredibly useful. You need to face the facts that Unix is a multiuser operating system with a long history, and a high level of security. You are not running a single user Mac anymore and you need to adjust your operating procedures accordingly. A suid script (look it up) that sets all files within the WebCatalog heirarchy to be owned by www would be sufficient to start with.
