If an expert MacOS programmer comes up with some reason why he might need to use webcatalog to delete these invisible files, then it should be up to that expert to use a special parameter to bypass webcat's default behavior. Everyone else should expect webcatalog to not recognize these critical MacOS files by default. Not only that, but just think about the many webcat sites that have been developed with delete file tags inside listfiles contexts over the years ...When these sites eventually upgrade to MacOS 8.6 or better -- and they will -- the MacOS will create these invisible Icon_ files in folders targeted by the existing webdna code's listfiles and deletefile tags. So if webcat's default were set to show these invisible files, webcatalog would delete them when the existing template runs, and that will trash the hard drive and require a reformat.I don't think PCS really wants to be resoonsible for webcat trashing hard drives when it's default settings are used, but it's bound to happen unless the default is set to hide invisible files.I am more-or-less an expert MacOS users, and I personally cannot imagine any situation where I would want or need webcatalog to recognize MacOS invisible files. If I ever find a reason for deleting these files, I certainly won't want webcatalog doing it simply because it's default setting encouraged it to happen. No, I will use ResEdit if I ever need to do trash the MacOS's Icon_ files.Or if I ever actually needed to do it within webcatalog, that's what the [applescript] context is for ...So it wouldn't bother me in the least to see PCS make webcatalog completely incapable of recognizing invisible files. At least then it would require someone with applescript capabilities to be able to trash my hard drive, instead of just someone who adds an invisible=T parameter to a listfiles context ...================================ Kenneth Grome, WebDNA Consultant 808-737-6499, http://webdna.net ================================############################################################# This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
