If I did have that interest, wouldn't I spend more time on this list? What if Smith Micro came to you and said Mooseman, I would love to buy your code and distribute it to 100,000 possible clients. Either that or else you aren't a businessman.For your information, since you seem to have doubts about our integrity, we are interested in one thing, moving as fast as possible. If somebody has already written a wheel, why should we rewrite it? Why not resell it and give developers time to make more pieces of software for us to resell? We are general contractors, looking for developer resources.Why should we take months out of our schedule to write a piece of code we don't know will sell or not, when some developer already has purely for love of their work? Maybe we put 300 hours into something, and then it doesn't generate any revenue. We just tossed over a months worth of work out the door. I would much rather resell their work, and collect hosting fees. Or create sites, and work with the developer to integrate their software into the site.We aren't interested in coding. We are interested in site development and hosting.Another thing, while we are at it, and this is directed specifically to Smith Micro. If you look at how vibrant the ASP and Cold Fusion community is, you will understand what paranoia about somebody ripping my code leads too.Its hard enough to sell this stuff when your biggest competitor are the people that make Web Catalog. It is not in their interest to foster a strong development community which shares code, because that would be fostering competition. Its called conflict of interest, in case you aren't familiar with it. It is why Smith Micro and crones don't promote tools great solutions like Web Merchant or The Pubb, when they can box 100,000 of their own tools and put them in stores. I mean really, why encourage people to understand when they can charge them a $90 an hour consulting fee. Give me a break.That is a great way to stifle any sort of creativity or sharing of knowledge. Pacific Coast and Smith Micro have done nothing to help that situation. That's why nobody knows what web cat is and why there aren't any books written on it(nor will there ever be).Rule number one of business: If you want people to hop on your bandwagon, speak the universal language of money. That is why Microsoft can develop crap, yet have people recommending it all over the place. Because they will have to come back as consultants and get guaranteed job security, and why Web Cat will never hold more than a sliver of a market in which their competitors are flourishing, even if they do have a great product.And for the record, we are doing a complete site redesign. We also have connections at ZDTV, and our press person has started working on them. Within the next two months, there is a very good chance we will be on ZDTV. What does that mean? Well, balthaser.com was featured in the background on a tv, yesterday and coincidentally you couldn't get into their site. Could it have been because of the fact they were featured on ZDTV? What do you think?Also, we are making numerous deals with developers of all sorts. For example, we are going to host the largest qtvr site on the web. That gives us a great showcase piece, and gets them a bunch of exposure to VC.We have brought a composer on board with a sound studio in vancouver, who wrote the theme song for the Highlander television series and has had international play of her songs in Europe and Japan.It gives us a great showcase piece, and opens up some serious possibility for work.We also have other webcat developers we are working with to sell their pieces of code. Unlike Smith Micro and Pacific Coast, we are looking for allies, because we believe in strength in numbers and that small guys can come together and make a powerhouse. This might sound like rhetoric, and I assure you its not. But the best example I can think of is we don't believe in the soviet model of controlling information, we believe in the american model that its free exchange will lead to strength.for what its worth, and apologies for any sense of flaming.
