More RAM would also probably be _very_ helpful because WebCat caches it's databases in RAM and 128MB just doesn't go as far there days. ;)Are you running a little MacOS X Server utility called UPspeed? This will give you a quick visual indication of CPU/Swap/Memory usage during this slow time to see if indeed you're running of memory (well swapping anyway), smacking the CPU etc. UPspeed is a .pkg available from:http://softrak.stepwise.com/Apps/WebObjects/Softrak.woa/1/wa/displayPackage?package=65&os=10Also, are you running AppleShare or QuickTimeStreaming Server on the same machine? If not double check your /etc/startup/1600_AppleShare says AFPSERVER=-NO- and under the Apple Menu in Server Administration:QuickTimeStreamingAdmin that QTSS is off. AFP/QTSS in your case would suck a full 64MB for buffers if they are on. Blech! One last thing to try is in a terminal window (this will lower memory buffers manually, use at your own risk):New WorldROM (BW G3s): nvram boot-args='srv=1,nbuf=4096' (for 32MB of buffers) Old WorldROM (Beige G3s): nvram boot-command='srv=1,nbuf=4096'This may help or just plop another 128 chip in there. ;)Good luck.Karim Ardalan wrote:> We are running: > PowerMac G3 with 128MB of RAM > Mac OS X Server 1.02 > iTools 5.003 with WebCatalog > > Karim Ardalan > MIS, Inc.-- Parker Zero Echo Inc.
