texte = If they can't have access to check things out, how can you expect them tohelp? As for selling a beta version, I can't claim to know what either party saidduring that transaction, but on the list they did offer a pre-release pricewhile the software was in beta.Maybe they offered you that special price, I don't recall the time frame inwhich you had to get it, but I *think* it should have been valid in June aswell. If you paid less than the $2495.00 price for WebCatalog (alone, notcounting WebMerchant) then I would guess you got a special price. How did you find out about the software in the first place. I would guessthat maybe they assumed you had already tried out the demo from theirwebsite. Can the person that suggested the software to you help you out? There may be some confusion of the term 'demo' you mention that often the'demo' is quite polished and everything works perfectly. I agree, in mostcases when you look at a demo it is tweaked to only show the 'good' things. However in this case, the demo is simply a copy of the software that you canuse on whatever machine you want while you are trying out building somethingyourself. On some systems it only runs for 2 hours then quits, on others Ibelieve you get a 30 day serial number to use and try things out.As Ken G. would say, make sure you look at all the documentation andactually try doing some of the coding by hand.I would be the first to complain about the demonstration pages that comewith the software. They work, but don't have any or enough comments in themto make it easy, but if you take the time it to learn how WebCat works, itreally does work.As for hosting, beielve it or not you can host a high performance site on aMac as well. My site using Typhoon Pro (a version of WebCat without theextra ECom specific stuff) is handling baout 1.6 million pages per month, all through WebCat and there aremultiple searches on some of those pages aswell. And this is all running on an iMac.Good luck....Dalep.s. I guess I am also a nobody as I don't work for SM either. And now Ihave to read the emails I got from them late last week while I was out oftown on my install problem.> From: M.B.
