texte = I'll be starting coding my first store, so I'd like to use some of the lists' wisdom to save some time and agravation. The customer wants a store who sells auto stuff (mainly - 90%) tires, batteries, etc (about 4-5 different categories). They have the data in an excel file, with several worksheets, which should be easy to export in tab delimited format.I'm puzzled of how to go about it.My initial ideas:---------------------------1. Database setup:- use the Database Helper and build 4-5 databases with the related files (ie, tires.db, bateries.db, chains.db, etc)2. Modify the pre-made templates, to suit my needs, and adapt them to each particular db category.3. Store: - should I use the webmerchant demo to set-up a store? - how do I fit in / adapt the webmerchant templates to a system of 4-5 db's, each within its own folder. - is this the way to go?Based on the above model, I'd end up with something like:/CUSTOMER - root folder /CUSTOMER/index.tpl /CUSTOMER/search.tpl ... /CUSTOMER/tires/ /CUSTOMER/chains/ /CUSTOMER/batteries/ ... /CUSTOMER/ShoppingCarts/ /CUSTOMER/Orders/ /CUSTOMER/Admin/ /CUSTOMER/WebMerchant/ /CUSTOMER/other webmerchant files and templates--------------------------- What do I need to modify in the Webmerchant files?Do I need to use WebMerchant? They are not going to perform real time CC authorizations, but would like to process the orders, by e-mail every 2-3 hours. If this is a good approach, let's say the customer goes into a section, say TIRES, searches for a tire that's xx in width, and yy in diameter, and less than $50, gets to the search results, has found 1 tire that's OK with him.He has to add it to the ShoppingCart. What if he wants to buy a battery? goes now to the battery section, performs a search, based on some criteria and finds the battery and adds it to the cart. He's done now! Should a cart.tpl be present in each (tires/, batteries/, etc) folder? Is this the way to go? I guess I'm asking for the bread and butter in store design...Thanks in advance for the input.Serban------------------------------------------------------------- Brought to you by CommuniGate Pro - The Buzz Word Compliant Messaging Server.
