I have used the loadtester app and the machine serves admirably. I am 100% certain that were arenot using a trickle when it comes to connections. However, WebCat causes noticeable slow downs during these 3-5 secondsearches (and I do mean dramatic). I thought of spawning to free themachine, but the user needs to see the results so that was out.So in order to lessen the impact I did two things.1. Recoded the searches to dramatically reduce their returns (max found). This wasn't my first choice but since I was doing recursive searching 3levels deep, it had a dramatic impact on performance.2. Adjusted the settings as I mentioned to try to make the machine (G3 300198 ram) more responsive during WebCat functions. I have some other webcatfunctions (listfiles) that can be pretty unruly. But, as far as what other problems I could have started by taking thosesettings to the degree I did, I don't know. I hate not knowing!I currently have about 80 databases open at a time ranging from a few k to10 megs. Their field counts range from 2 to 100. My question revolved aroundwhat I was doing to all of them by fixing this 1 issue.Unfortunately it seems SM is the only one that can answer this. Thanks though.AJM-- -------------------------------------------------------------This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list
