I have used the load tester app and the machine serves admirably. I am 100% certain that were are not using a trickle when it comes to connections. However, WebCat causes noticeable slow downs during these 3-5 second searches (and I do mean dramatic). I thought of spawning to free the machine, but the user needs to see the results so that was out.So in order to lessen the impact I did two things.1. Recoded the searches to dramatically reduce their returns (max found). This wasn't my first choice but since I was doing recursive searching 3 levels deep, it had a dramatic impact on performance.2. Adjusted the settings as I mentioned to try to make the machine (G3 300 198 ram) more responsive during WebCat functions. I have some other webcat functions (listfiles) that can be pretty unruly. But, as far as what other problems I could have started by taking those settings to the degree I did, I don't know. I hate not knowing!I currently have about 80 databases open at a time ranging from a few k to 10 megs. Their field counts range from 2 to 100. My question revolved around what I was doing to all of them by fixing this 1 issue.Unfortunately it seems SM is the only one that can answer this. Thanks though.AJM -- ------------------------------------------------------------- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
