If I do that, I won't have to worry > about using a formula to generate the price, right?well I think it will amount to the same level of complexity. If you can code the logic you need to get a dynamic price, then you can stick that logic in the proce formula or you can stick it somewhere else. It amount to the same thing no? The advantage of using the price formula is that it works in conjunction with other webcat features - which will save you hassle over the long run. The more times you bypass typical setup the more hassle it will be for you overall. Don't be afraid of formulas... they are your friend! Just ask for help when/if you get stuck.> > > The only problem (and it's just a matter of figuring it out) is when to > clean that temp product out of the databaseyou can setup a trigger page that looks in the temp db and deletes any records over say 3 days old (or whatever).> and when to export that data > to the text file I need.when their payment has been confirmed, right?> But, I guess I can do that on the approval page. > > Does that sound like a good way to deal with the custom item problem I have > with this store? To the degree I have my mental juice invested in your project... yeah fine ;-) truthfully... When I do big projects I try to cognize the whole thing as a grand vision to guide me, but to whatever degree that vision is there (even if not much for some reason(s)), I always take the same tactic - DIVE IN and code away. Things become obvious as you work out the practical details of the code. There are guys here who could help you formulate the big picture much better than me... but they aren't paying attention because by now they think that I am helping you ;-) Plus everyone is so busy you have to get lucky to have someone read a long post and give deep answers beyond simple syntax errors. The only thing that might get tricky is coordinating the CC processing/order payment... and the *only* reason I even say that is because I made my own CC processing system... and I assume you are going to try to integrate your thing with WebMerchant which I have never used.Remeber that the guys who make space probes successfully orbit and photograph other planets just take one small step after another - same as *all* of us!-John ------------------------------------------------------------- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
