All updates are made to a central database, but searches are done in WebCatalog databases. There are some databases that will not be queried often nor updated often so these (to save memory) will probably always reside in the SQL database. In the past Ken G. has offered as a solution to this problem using TCPConnect to update the other database. e.g. machine one has a record added or updated, as part of your save process, do a TCPConnect to a special page on the other server(s) you have and pass the information changed to them.If the machines are on the same network, I imagine performance would be very good. If the machines are located apart (say in different states/countries) this might not be as reliable.I believe you could probably also create some sort of text file reflecting any changes, then if you can control via a script (or even the Synchronize Pro product you are mentioning) ftp this specially formatted file to your other machines, then have a trigger to check for its existence and merge the changes to that local database. While this method may entail more work, I would think that it could potentially be more reliable than using TCPConnect.Dale on 10/4/01 8:42 PM, Marc M. at marc@lsaproofing.com wrote:> You could use tcp connect to do all your database transactions on a central > webcat server and use clone machines to process the rest of webcat > transaction, and html.
