CommitteeWe need a committee of four or five to work out all the little details. We'll never get this ball rolling if the entire list has to participate on every little decision. The hosts have to be represented in the committee, of course, but who else? -------2. CategoriesFour different: a) Open category -Submissons judged by originality of overall idea, usefullness in real world, coding style and technique, stability, scaleability, effeciency and making the most out of the WebdDNA language. -Script based on WebDNA, but other languages are allowed - as long as they don't require additional cgi software on the server b) Flashiest script That's my original idea: -Submissons judged by how impressive they are to those who don't know WebDNA -Script based on WebDNA, but other languages are allowed - as long as they don't require additional cgi software on the server c) Best pure WebDNA script -Same as a), but only WebDNA and html are allowed d) Best Classic WebDNA script -Same as a), but add compatibility with earlier versions of WebCatalog -------3. JudgingI suggest a combination of a jury of three and votes from the list subscribers. SMSI are invited to appoint one of the three judges. The others are appointed by the committee. Submitters' identities are only known to the committee, of course. -------4. HostingDemos and downloadable scripts on at least two servers on different continents. Alain Russell and Bob Minor has volunteered. One or two additional hosts shouldn't be necessary, but wouldn't do any harm either. We do, however need a *permanent* download site for the scripts, and I'm not sure if Alain and Bob volunteered for that. (Actually regardless of this competition we need a permanent downlaod site - or even better, a network of sites - for ready-made public domain WebDNA scripts. I'd just *love* to do this myself, but my ISP's WebCatalog isn't up to date, so I won't be able to run all the demos from my site :-( )We also need someone to host the contest's main page with contest rules, submission information, links to the demo hosts etc.-------5. SizeMax. 500 KB total Max. 1200 lines Max. 10 files - everything included -------6. CopyrightScripts subimtted must be available free of charge to all WebDNA programmers, either as open source or completely free-for-all. -------7. PrizesThe honour is the main prize, of course. But we should also have some nice logos (with links to the contest's home page) for the winner's to put on their sites. Anybody needs to practice their logo design skills? I think we'll need twelve of them - 1st 2nd and 3rd prize in each category. -------8. TimeSubmissions: Dec. 1st Winners announced: Jan 1stOr would that be too soon?
