Get a book on Apache and learn about virtual domains and configuration files. I already gave you specific recommendations about why you don't want/need to install the WebCatalog system files in a directory associated with a specific virtual domain.WebCatalog is a plugin to Apache itself and can be limited to specific domains or be active site-wide, depending on the location of the AddHandler directive in the Apache configuration files. There is no need to even locate the WebCatalogEngine directory inside an explicit cgi-bin directory. All of the files can be stored in, e.g. /usr/local/apache/WebCatalogEngine, and a specific document mapping created to the Admin folder. This is just as true under Windows as *nix, btw; I cannot speak for the Mac installations.> > (2) When I click on Administration from the browser that points to > http://64.226.40.59/WebCatalog/index.html, I get the following: > WebDNA - Commerce Edition: This serial number is invalid. That does not do the trick.Funny, you ignored *my* comment that the serial numbers are _platform_ specific and your existing S/N will have to be replaced by SMSI. For testing purposes only, sign up at the WebDNA Developers Site, here: http://webdna.smithmicro.comand request a free Developer's Edition license, _for your new platform_. That will allow you to confirm that your site files work, prior to asking SMSI to transfer your existing license to your new platform.> > (3) I copied the USers.db, Triggers.db and WebCatalog Prefs files like > you advised. What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Do you have existing users that you need to keep their passwords active? You have already been told that the encryption in Users.db may be machine specific. If you don't have any triggers, you don't need to transfer the Triggers.db. If you haven't changed any of the preferences (your existing serial number _will not work_), you don't need to copy the 'WebCatalog Prefs' file either. If you want to confirm that the sites you already have running under Linux will work under FreeBSD, then copy those files to the new server. WebCatalog is working fine (sans license), so you can safely copy your files to the new server and test away. Since you already are running under a *nix installation, if the site files work fine under Linux, the rights are already set appropriately. Just tar up the files and ftp them over.> > I feel there is something I am missing. Mainly because I can't get > anywhere. Might you have any suggestions on how I can migrate the > WebCatalog off the current server onto the new server?I'm sorry; I have to be honest to you:[harsh criticism]You are out of your depth. You don't appear to understand WebCatalog at all, you don't appear to understand Apache at all, and your *nix experience is suspect as well. You are trying to perform major surgery after watching a couple of hours of ER. You need to step away from the computer and admit you have other things to learn before you can accomplish these tasks. [/harsh criticism]I don't know what else we can do to help you. Perhaps someone on the list would be willing to help you if you could give them a login and temporary su password (not me). You could also install VNC (specically Xvnc) on your system and then someone would be able to see your desktop while you are on the phone and walk through the steps.John-- John Peacock Director of Information Research and Technology Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group 4501 Forbes Boulevard Suite H Lanham, MD 20706 301-459-3366 x.5010 fax 301-429-5748 ------------------------------------------------------------- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
