Of course, my code is so elegant and well written that it doesn't need any comments :) I have found that one large comment block parses quicker than multiple small ones, so I put most of my comments at the top of each file, with only enough notes in the code itself to remind me of what the heck I'm doing when things get ugly. I've become religious about tracking my changes in the header comment block with something like this: [!] Document:(name of the html or include file) Usage:(what this file does, why and how) Input:(list of parameters to an include file, formvariables to an html page, and their usage) Output:(what gets returned from an include file) Change Log: DateWhoChanges 21Oct2002Brian FriesInitial development 06May2003Joe Schmoe(what joe did, brief yet complete) 09Oct2003Brian Fries(what I did, brief yet complete) Copyright 2002-2003, BrainScan Software [/!] - brian On Thursday, October 23, 2003, at 10:59 PM, Andrew Thompson wrote: > Just intrigued by something and want to get a quick sounding from the > list: > > // how many of you write notes in your code so if you get run over by > a bus, the poor sucker who picks up your strings of genius knows what > the heck is going on? // > > Look forward to hearing from you. > -- Brian Fries, BrainScan Software -- http://www.brainscansoftware.com -- ------------------------------------------------------------- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
