If Red-Hat doesn't have an updated RPM, you should build it yourself (it's not hard). Do you really need all those geegaws in your Apache? Specifically DAV has security problems and mod_perl uses a lot of RAM for each child process (you can run two versions of Apache to get around this latter issue). If you aren't using each and everyone one of those features, I would strongly suggest stripping them out of your conf file. > > 2) It's not bad code that's causing this because if I quit WebCat and > then reopen it, it immediately reverts to 100% of the CPU. Disconnect the server from the 'Net and see whether that makes any difference. It is very possible you are "under attack" from one of the various worms. You can also check the Apache error log for some clue to this (look for weird URL's with embedded ../'s). This will only take a few minutes so even if this is a production server, hardly anyone will notice it. > > 3) It's ACTUAL utilizing all 100% that it's taking. This will at least keep the other services going until you can find out what is going on. 4) Make sure you don't have a rogue trigger running (though I would think that the SMSI person would have checked that).
