The Fact that WebDNA has tried to evolve from WebCatalog and as an 'eCommerce solution' when there were none way back then, and now still try and hold a viable position in a world where eCommerse solution are a dime a dozen and based on a free engine - PHP. PHP may not be a money making machine - but developers are using the engine and making modules etc... SMSI should do the same instead of over complicating the solution with sandbox and their own modules - your are really paying for their development time of these modules... and well yes - but do you really need or want them all. Me no... not just yet - but then it would be nice to be able to upgrade and purchase these as module rather than a solution as it stands now. I would prefer to see that WebDNA be made as Free engine like PHP.... seriously that is really what it is. (ie the developer edition is made free and unlocked for only 1 Machine 1 domain use - no session limitations) Then we as a commumity keep WebDNA alive and make modules like shopping carts whatever so we can build our online stores. Take a look at X-Cart, it is a PHP Shopping Cart solution using Smarty. X-Cart is huge but the third-party module area is just as big and people are making money off of selling modules. -- Regards, Marko On Sunday, 7 May 2006 10:28 PM, Christophe Billiottet wrote: I agree with Donovan; imagine a WebDNA with a low price, as a cgi, that could be sold on a site basis. I started to work with WebDNA when it was named WebCatalog by Pacific Coast, in 1996 if i remember: it was a Mac OS 8 executable CGI. It has always been a great piece of software. I also think it has a huge potential market, amongst designers and unexperienced webmasters (99% of sites owners), that would not or cannot learn php/mysql to build anything from a simple form-to-email to a complex graphical stock management software and need to request programmer's help. WebDNA would lower the computer skills necessary for programming. Add a simple tag plugin made for GoLive and you would get a powerful tool to build simple to complex websites, without leaving GoLive, ever. chris On May 6, 2006, at 11:30, Donovan Brooke wrote: > Ken, > whenever you reply to me, Its always a balance of > "do I really want to give this guy the fuel he wants"? > (because anyone who's been on this list knows you live for it.) > > You always try to claim you know what I'm saying.. that's why > I call you Rush L.
