Presently, I have some 35 sites, each consisting of some 200+ templates and 150+ .db's running the back office functions for a senior home care franchising business. It is like a temporary help agency. I have some 1500 active senior clients and over 3000 employees. WebDNA handles all data, scheduling, billing and payroll. I can also monitor all franchise activity from a master console set of templates. We're presently running over $2M/year through it and we're just getting started. I did all of this myself working 3 days/week over about a year. Believe it or not, I am running all this on a mac mini. In March, I will put in a real dual G5 xserve. I recently hired an ex Oracle/Yahoo guy to help with some of the development. We agreed that doing the same work in mySQL/PHP would take a team of at least 5 people working at least a year to duplicate the system. I don't see any reason to change. I anticipate being able to handle at least 5x the load I am now supporting with the xserve and then I will go to a second machine. The system is designed to scale nicely over multiple servers.
