Hello again JD, did you have a chance to look at the mapping instructions for Windows that I mentioned on the HTML forum? > Now, in addition, I run a Ubuntu server here in my office, but I did not > see a build for that platform. I think the only reason there are specific installers is that things can be in different places and use different libraries for the different builds. We are starting development just now (as we only acquired WebDNA a short time ago) and will be looking at the best ways to move forward with the Linux installers and support. I have a lot of ideas in that area and we have some good potential resources to really improve on the linux versitality during development. > And finally, is WebDNA generic enough across platforms to run the same > code on Windows as it does on Linux/Unix? It works relatively the same across platforms. There are platform specific contexts and commands.. but all the core stuff is very portable. The CSV file is the heart of WebDNA's internal RAM resident table system.. so that will work fine. You just have to make sure the file format is clean before uploading (file format structure is in the docs at dev.webdna.us. > > Anyway, any help you guys can give me to point me in the right direction > would be greatly appreciated. > > Sincerely, > JD Ready Respectfully to Chris's suggestion, I would rather suggest that you actually get started now. WebDNA on XP should run just fine as it is listed as supported. However, as I mentioned, this hasn't been my personal platform of choice and I won't be able to help much, other than pointing you to the instructions for mapping the suffixes for Windows. However, there are hundreds of Windows Servers running WebDNA out there, so I am guessing there are people on this list who can help you with install issues. Lastly, Chris and I and others will know a lot more in a couple/few months about all this stuff I'm sure ;-) (when we are in the thick of development). Hope that helps!... and hopefully someone else will chime in to help you get up and running quickly. Donovan P.S. Ubuntu is my personal favorite flavor! -- Donovan D.
