texte = [rant] Probably a dumb question with a ridiculously easy answer as usual, but be= ar with me... So over the years, I keep getting bit by these entities (‚ etc.) wi= thin .db's/fields, etc.=20 Despite strategic [URL]ery and [convertchars] and [grep] and such, every = now and again something=20 slips through and the ampersand ends up busting my code. An obvious solution to help with this is a [convertchars] .db, which I ha= ve done years ago .=20 Apparently, I must be missing some entities despite using what I though w= ere complete lists,=20 otherwise I would not have this problem anymore. So it happened again today on code that has worked for years now I'm thor= oughly sick of it and=20 want to solve it once and for all. My hasty solution? A [convertchars] wi= th 10000 records to catch=20 every conceivable stinkin' symbol. [writefile=3DsymbolConvert.db][!] [/!]FROMTO[!] [/!][loop start=3D1&end=3D10000]&#[index];[/loop][= !] [/!][/writefile] My problem? What entities are symbols? Which are blank? and which are nor= mal characters (which I=20 obviously want to keep)? http://www.w3schools.com/tags/ref_symbols.asp shows that references start as low as 30-ish and go as high as 9800-ish (= hence loop 1-10000), but=20 this is just crazy... [loop start=3D1&end=3D10000] [index]&#[index];
[/loop] shows everything warts and all. Most symbols are blank. Ok so if I go the [convertchars] route, is it possible that w3schools has= n't listed every-single=20 entity, and ultimately, there has got to be a better way to handle this. Sorry for the rant, but I'm pissed off and have a ton of other things I n= eed to be doing rather=20 than debugging frickin' ampersand issues. How are you all handling this issue? Thanks, -Dan [/rant] Associated Messages, from the most recent to the oldest:
