What you have to do on a 10.8 is- just upload mod_fastcgi.so (we have a copy if you need it) in /usr/libexec/apache2/ with the same UID:GID and permissions as the other modules you will find inside this directoryand if it is a new install, just follow the instructions (Lion and Mountain Lion have the same procedure) in the ReadMe file that comes with the FastCGI.
