[te= xt]sha1hash=3D[getchars start=3D1&trim=3Dboth][shell]echo -n '[stri= ng-to-hash]' | openssl sha1[/shell][/getchars][/text]



The [getchars trim]= gets rid of an extra carriage return that gets added to the end of the has= h for some reason. You should probably check the string for single quote ch= aracters as well.
