texte = Hi, all:I thought I should send you all this message and address some questions that have come up. First of all, you might notice from the Header that we have changed the address for this mailing list to . Please use this address in your future posts to the list. In order to make this transition as smooth as possible, messages sent to the Pacific Coast address will be forwarded to the new StarNine address. Now, on to the important issues. What will all these changes mean to me? Will the folks at PCS still be available to answer questions? Will they continue development of the software? How, when, and where will I get my upgrade? What about the WebCommerce Lite customers? Will WebCatalog continue to support other Web servers besides WebSTAR? And who was that masked man, anyway?Gees, you guys ask a lot of questions! So, here is my best effort at answering them. What will all these changes mean to me? Well, the changes for me are that I am the new Product Manager for WebCatalog, but I don't think that's what you want to know. You should not see any major changes other than a better infra-structure for Technical & Customer Support. The actual procedure would be to send mail to this talk list or to our support address . If you have specific Customer Service questions, you should send mail to Will the folks at PCS still be available to answer questions? We will definitely be relying on Grant, John and Jay as well as other members of this list to help us answer all of your questions, especially in the begining. It is the efforts of everyone that has helped to make WebCatalog and WebMerchant the quality product it is. We definitely hope to continue this relationship. Will they continue development of the software? What about their other products? They most certainly will. We have a number of ideas on how to continue to improve the product to keep it as the premier Web commerce solution. As for their other products, our relationship does not prevent PCS from continuing their development efforts in those areas, but they will have to speak to their actual plans. How, when, and where will I get my upgrade? We expect the upgrade, which will require a new StarNine Serial Number, to be available later this week. In order to receive your upgrade, you will need to contact our Sales Department either by email to or by phone to 800-525-2580. The upgrade will be free to all customers that purchased after May, 1996 (that's a 13 month period). The price will be $895.00 for those that purchased before May, 1996. This price will include WebMerchant, if it was previously purchased. What about the WebCommerce Lite customers? You should consider WebCatalog 2.0 to be WebCommerce Lite on steriods. It will do everything WebCommerce Lite does, plus a whole lot more.... Therefore, those customers will also be eligible for the upgrade. Will WebCatalog continue to support other Web servers besides WebSTAR? Most certainly! Though we believe that WebSTAR is an excellent value and the premier Web server (when all aspects are considered), we recognize that sites are using other servers (even on other platforms!). WebCatalog is still an excellent commerce soultion, regardless of server or platform. And who was that masked man, anyway? I don't know...but he left this silver bullet!I hope this message has addressed your concerns. You are welcome to contact me directly if there are still some issues you need resolved. I look forward to our new relationship.
