I would [appendfile] that Email address to an account.log file. Then if they ordered something, I would [Search] the account.log. If the [Search] returned a [numFound] greater then one, I would show them a so glad to see you again screen and not allow them the to receive the First-Time-Shopper discount. If it returned a [numFound] less than or equal to one, I would show them a welcome First-Time-Shopper screen and the big discount. Here's my problem:When I search the account.log, the search returns only the values that were present in the account.log when WebSTAR last started up. If I open the account.log, I see the appended Email address. If I restart WebSTAR the search finds the new Email addresses but will not find addresses entered thereafter. Below, is my test page. (It is named test6.tmpl so it collects the address on the first call then calls itself for the search/results.)--------------------------------snip-----------------------------------
[Search db=account.log&eqEMAILdata=[email]] The search found [NumFound] addresses.
On a search for [email] [/Search][appendfile account.log][email] [name] [address1] [address2] [city] [state] [zip] [ipaddress] [date] [TIME] [/appendfile]--------------------------------snip-----------------------------------Here's my question:Can a database be appended, searched, appended, searched... and the results reflect the last update/append, be it only seconds ago?A dynamic database.-- Eddie Schrieffer The Creative Edge Spartanburg, SC 864.585.3343 Associated Messages, from the most recent to the oldest:
