In fact, it is an error *not* to allow the secondsubmission. There are plenty of sites that want to add the same product tothe cart on 2 different occasions (1 pair of red tennis shoes, and a secondpair of green) as 2 different lineitems. The browsers that do so muchcaching that they don't actually send the second request are in error. Whenyou are dealing with dynamic pages, as WebCatalog does, you must letWebCatalog see all of the form postings so *it* can decide if there's anerror or not.>>To solve your situation, where you don't want a second item added to thecart, you can put WebDNA into the cart page that examines contents of thecart and disallows the second $Add of an identical product. The choiceshould be up to you, the WebMaster, and not the browser.Dear Grant,Perhaps I don't understand something, or I need to clarify... We don't mind if a customer selects the same product item twice and we allowmultiple $Adds of identical items. The problem is that Netscape 2 & 3 under Windows 95 on a PC is sometimesthrowing up this Repost Form Data? message box when the customer submitsANY form. It doesn't matter if it is a $search or a $add, they can still getthe message box. The worst case is if they then go and select OK to themessage box after a $add to cart it results in a second identical entryincorrectly added. However, the message box at any time after submitting anyform is unacceptable. The forms are working OK on other browsers and on other platforms. Thismight be a PC Netscape thing with WebCatalog CGI but we NEED to get aroundit somehow ASAP. I don't know what sort of WebDNA Tags to use to stop this Netscape RepostForm Data? message box coming up. Ideas or help are very welcome. Please, we invite you to take a quick look at our catalog site:www.pwallen.co.uk . It has 1000's of Stock Items linked together as Products within Categories. Thanks you, Caius Hawkins Webmaster MacIS Europe
