Netscape Enterprise Server, shich can run in virtually any flavor of Unix wupports NSAPI, Web Application Interface, Web publishing API, Access Control & Authorization API, LiveWire database connectivity (I wonder what this might be), Session management, and Certificate Utility API.Server providers present this in a manner suggesting that any one can follow their API guidelines, throw their plugin in the plugin directory, and it should work, regardless of the particular Unix setup. Hopefully Microsoft hasn't made their structure deliberately different from the rest.I started testing platforms & server software after checking out the server comparison at http://www8.zdnet.com/zdimag/zdlabs/who.serve/index.html Its an eye-opener to see the performance difference between Mac & NT. It may provide information to point you in the right direction.Unfortunately, the very nature of the arrangement means that you have to go to the server provider for API support, and thereby provide the server supplier with the perfect opportunity to steal your idea. The main thing I've noticed is that I get stoney silence when I ask if any Unix server offers features - in any fashion - like those of WebCat. I think I can actually hear some drooling on the other end of the line.
