There is no specific documentation regarding Mac-to-NT WebCatalog porting, because at the time this was such a rare occurrence that we couldn't justify the time to write it. The online docs are designed to be used for both platforms, so in cases where there are differences we put the little Windows or Mac logos right in the docs. All embedded WebDNA (tags like [date], [search]) in a template should be identical. All of the examples such as GeneralStore and Classifieds are 100% identical for Mac and Windows. If you follow their style from the start, you can port more quickly. The differences lie in and
areas. We did build in something I call Mac-Compatibility Mode which is imperfect but helps you get a site over faster. If you built your site using as many relative paths as possible ( instead of ) then you can simply change the one entry point into the site to /Scripts/WebCatalog/$WebCat.exe/folder/xx.tmpl$search. This causes your browser to insert all the stuff up to and including $WebCat.exe into every URL that is clicked from there on. When called in this manner, WebCatalog is smart enough to look for the $ and grab the parameters the same way a Mac does (PC servers don't normally look for $ as a delimiter). The only problem with this technique is that relative tags will improperly get the $WebCat.exe stuck in front of the URL, so you would need to change your graphics src tags to absolute URLs.Your templates should go down inside the /Scripts/WebCatalog folder, similar to the GeneralStore folder that exists there already. If you examine the main Welcome page on Mac and Windows, you will see the differences in how we jump into the various Admin, Classifieds, GeneralStore, etc. sites. From there on in, they pages should be identical. We also built the Mac 2.0.1 version to understand the command=xxx syntax, so you can write Windows sites and port them to Mac more easily. It is our intention to eventually get the examples rewritten in such a way that even the HREFs are identical.Grant Hulbert, V.P.
