Any help would be appreciated. I've tried (and tried and tried) to get ANYONE who is using [sendmail] contexts in WebCat to tell me HOW they are getting EIMS to send that mail, and guess what?So far, NO ONE has been able to tell me -- for a fact -- that they are actually using EIMS to send the email files created by WebCatalog. But some people have told me that they have NOT been able to make it work. And I tried several different approaches myself, and none of them worked. I even wrote to Glenn Andersen who wrote AIMS/EIMS, and he never replied. Therefore, my conclusion is that EIMS is *NOT* an option for replacing Emailer. I honestly believe EIMS (and possibly AIMS) will NOT send email files created by WebCatalog. On the other hand, SIMS works GREAT -- as long as you have OT running on your server, because SIMS *requires* OT and it does NOT work with MacTCP.SIMS is more difficult to configure than EIMS too, at least it was for me. The documentation is either too technical or too vague or too confusing or too poorly organized. And it's not all that hard to configure, as long as you can get into the mindset of the technically-oriented person who wrote the docs. But it's still a challenge to understand what the heck they are talking about sometimes, because the author just doesn't seem to know how to write in everyday English so novices can understand how to do a simple conversion from AIMS or EIMS to SIMS.And the folks at Stalker seem to remain as quiet as possible when you request information from them -- until you post a message on their talk list exclaiming that you're going to do things the WRONG WAY, and then they will politely give you the minimal information you need in order to do it right. And watch out for the SIMS users posting replies, because I got several suggestions that didn't work at all, and I had to wait for a definitive response from Vlad before I got it working right. But SIMS itself seems to be a far more reliable emailing solution for me than Emailer was.If SIMS cannot send a message, it sends a Non-Delivery Notice to the Postmaster (you) and then it puts the bad file in the trash. So it never gets hung up on messages with bad addresses, or anything else as far as I can see. And it tells you when there was a problem by sending you an email message.I'm not saying SIMS is perfect, but you're running a Mac server with OT, I would highly recommend trying it ... :)Sincerely, Ken Grome 808-737-6499 WebDNA Solutions mailto:ken@webdna.net http://www.webdna.net Associated Messages, from the most recent to the oldest:
