If you use the other examples it will run either with the plug-in or the acgi. I used to change back and forth in the early 2.0 beta days to compare speed. That said design your site using http://www.yoursite.com/ thru out but with the acgi. Then in your shopping pages where you are ready for the person to check out and throw down a credit card then and only then move them to the secure server with the https://www.yourserver.com/entercredit.html. (or what ever you call the page) Try to use no graphics on your https pages. The entire page is encyrted, graphics and all. Give your ssl version of webstar a few connections. It will not do much other the do the credit card stuff. The ssl version is slower then the regular version of webstar. Use the regular version to disply your items for sale, add to their shopping cart, etc. Now keep in mind the if you use the plug-in, two versions of webstar running on the same server can not share the same plug-ins. And the webcat data is kept in ram for open db's. So the ssl version would never know what the regular version was up to. But with the acgi both the regular version and the ssl version can share data in ram. Think of the acgi as a complete program unto it's self, stakes out it's own ram for the databases to use. When you use the plug-in that data area is folded into the webstar ram partion. So with both the reg ver and the ssl ver running with plug-ins in each, the ram is not pooled, it is seperate for each copy of webstar running. And they can't not talk to each other. Clear as Mud I bet :)At least this is my understanding that I operate from.=============================================== Gary Richter PanaVise Products, Inc. 7540 Colbert Dr. Reno, Nevada 89511 Ph: 702.850.2900 Fx: 702.850.2929 Email: grichter@panavise.com http://www.panavise.com =============================================== Associated Messages, from the most recent to the oldest:
