I used this idea along with some showifs to do a similar thing at my site. They have to type in their email address, and WebDNA searches the user database for it. If no match is found, they get a [showif] that tells them the email wasn't in the database, and to email me to clear things up. I built in a sendmail to send me an email including the typed-in email address, username and password in browser (if any) and the IP, just so I get an idea of who's abusing this. (So far a few people 'go fishing' but no one has legitimately used it yet.)If they do get a match, a notice comes up telling them their user name and password has been emailed to that email address (and I get an email too). And finally, although I do try to keep my member .db clean, if someone should have more than one record, and forgot the username and password that's the 'active' one, a notice comes up saying that more than one record exists, and to email me to clear it up. This covers all bases.Mail only gets sent to a valid email address in the database. It is also an encouragement in the sign up procedure to get them to input valid information. (It's a kinky site, and some people want to hide, others want to use phone CC numbers. But if I'm going to take their CC, they have to act like adults.)Gary, I know you're more experienced at this than I am, but if you'd like the code just let me know. With the concept, you'll be on your own way. Anyone else, feel free to ask; I'll post it here.To check my example, go to the bottom of the Help page at http://www.feetdreams.com. While you're at it, go through the site and let me know if it's slow, has problems, I've overlooked something, how you like it, etc. It's been open for business for almost a month now, and seems to be running smoothly, although I did scramble to tweak some important things during the first week or so while my customers, ah, unknowingly beta tested it!
