It worked fine in Microsoft Despoiler 4.x (as a matter of principle, I refuse to load IE5.x).The problem went away when I made sure that the database relative path was correct and simplified it. One thing that is interesting is that the path to the database is relative to the called template itself, not the calling template. In other words, if you are calling Catalog/Index.tpl from the top level Index.tpl, which is also where the databases are located, the path is db=../CATALOG.db not db=CATALOG.db.I appears to me that Netscape has some problems with relative addressing if you are going up and then down again, when you are too deep in the directory structure. For example, ../DATABASE.db works fine ../../data/DATABASE.db truncates weirdlyIt would always chomp the template name and everything up to the database name itself (minus the ../'s).I am running WinNT (O'Reilly's WebSite) and WebCatalog 3.0.4 as a CGI. I believe that it is a browser problem, not a problem with the web server or CGI. Try simplifying your directory structure by having all of your admin template one level below your databases, not two.HTHJohn Peacock ____________________Reply Separator____________________ Subject: Relative URL quirk Author: (WebCatalog Talk) Date: 11/23/99 7:59 AMHere is a strange problem with relative addressing:File structure:Parent Folder - COUNTY SubFolder - VOTE SUBFOLDER - DBS all databases in here, including race_info.db SUBFOLDER - ADMIN all administrative functions start here SUBFOLDER - RACE all admin pages effecting the RACE_INFO.DB file here (r_ something.tpl) - this URL displays OK, except that the database is one layer higher - goes one layer higher, but displays as : http://server/county/vote/dbs/admin/race/RACE_INFO.DB&EQSKUDATA=1076 - note that it drops the template name and search commandJust for fun, add another backslash:and the URL actually truncates to the left again:http://server/county/vote/dbs/admin/RACE_INFO.DB&EQSKUDATA=1008Hardcosing the path solves the problem, excpet that the system is modular, and the prospect of changing it for every application is a pain.
