I use a chisel an a stone tablet myself. I could never find how to search and replace.Seriously: backward, or downward compatibility is the key. Some people have sold entire packages to some people and those people do not have the possibility to modify the encrypted templates themselves. They can ask the author to modify their scripts. Or those authors can act as little Bill Gates and sell the new, compatible version.Plus the author can be dead and nobody will be there to modify his work. The best solution is the solution where one installs WebCatalog 4 over WebCatalog 3 and see his templates work just the same, with NO modification whatsoever.I cannot spend any time modifying my own templates. Even with a search and replace. I might forget something. I will have to verify everything. It will be time consuming. And in the end, an upgrade that is here to make me save time thanks to the new features in the software, will have made me waste time. I'd rather stick to version 3.0 and not upgrade. All we are asking for is the possibility to protect the variables that we desire to protect. As usual, if a web user plays with his address box and modifies the variables in the URL just to see what happens, nothing major will happen if he cannot override the content of such variable as [IsAdmin] (for instance). And if some Slashdot or ZDnet comes and pretend that WebCatalog has a security hole, that would be a big lie and you would be able to consider legal action. ############################################################# This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
