The user that WebCatalog runs under (nobody in Linux, ???www in OSX???) must have read/write access to all files as well as the directories those files are located in. No other user needs any access to the files; this will cause you some problems when you use ftp to upload files. You really need to have root access to manage WebCat under any Unix derivative. Hopefully the ISP version of WebCatalog will be out soon (don't hold your breath). To change the ownership of the files to nobody (www) use the following from the top level directory of each virtual host (or if they are all in a single heirarchy, from the one above all of them): chown -R nobody:nobody *That will change the owner (recursively) of all files (*) to nobody. To set the rights to read/write, use the following from the same location: chmod -R u=rw *This will change the file rights flags (recursively) to only include read and write by the files owner (user). These are the only rights that are required; you can use a more relaxed security, but this is the minimum and safest level.HTHJohn Peacockp.s. - I'd rather have a rock to wind the string around.
