texte = I wish I could've come up with a better title for this post, but I'm not too clear with what's going on.I have this script that reads 8000 records out of one database, takes that info, and writes 16000 records to anther database (2 written for every 1 read). The code is a pretty simple [SEARCH db1&max=8000] [FOUNDITEMS] [REPLACE db2&append=t]stuff[/REPLACE] [REPLACE db2&append=t]more stuff[/REPLACE] [/FOUNDITEMS] [/SEARCH]Now, ideally, I should be getting 16000 records in db2. Sometimes, though, I get fewer. The results were pretty inconsistent when running the same script on the same databases (with the same data).Eventually, I figured out that large chunks of records were not getting written to db2 when I opened db2 in BBEdit. That is, when BBEdit opened the file it was putting a lock on it, preventing WebCat from writing to the database. This only happened during the actual opening process, not the entire time I had the BBEdit window open.I'm running this on a pretty old, slow Mac G3/266 (on purpose to try to force errors) with the WebCat 4 PI.Michael -- Michael Winston Web Developer, Dark Horse Comics michaelw@darkhorse.com http://www.darkhorse.com############################################################# This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
