It keeps the original formatting.
numero = 33828
interpreted = N
texte = Alan - Follow these steps exactly: 1) Flush 2) delete old version of database 3) copy new version of databaseWe do this all the time, because our databases are static (i.e. I never replace/append/update). However, if your site is very busy, there might be a time where a user will hit the database between steps 1 & 2. I would not have the client use FTP instead of copy in step 3 (too slow). Give them a staging area to upload to and write a template to do 1/2/3 in one pass.I will go out on a limb here and state categorically that you will have problems with the client using Excel. They should be using Access or some other database program, rather than a general purpose tool like Excel. It is far too easy to mess up the data something fierce with a non-database program, Excel in particular. One really annoying thing is that Excel will export in its own format, regardless of what you want. If a cell contains something that looks like a number and is formatted as General rather than Text (think ISBN with leading 0's), Excel will trash the data for you quite effectively. If I were you, I would offer to build them a nice form-based Access file to key their data into, instead of using Excel at all. Of course, the client is always right (!)...John PeacockAlan wrote: > > Is it possible to update a database by just replacing the .db file?
