texte = Has anyone ever used WebCatalog for the creation of a web baseddiscussion forum? I am trying to figure out how I can put the data intoa database, in such a way that it can be searched, without having tosearch every message to see what other messages are in the threadunderneath it, then searching all the messages in that thread to see ifthere are any messages under them, and so on. If I were to use such asetup, I could easily end up with 1500 searches on a page with 1500messages. There has to be a better way. Stand alone cgi's that areused for similar discussion forums must put the data in a database in amethod that allows it to easily retreive and construct the page. Doesanyone know what that method is?Here is an example of what I am talkling about:message 1 (1) re: message 1 (2) re: message 1 (3) re: message 1 (4) re: message 1 (5) re: message 1 (6) re: message 1 (7)message 2 (8)etc, etc, etc....The first message (1), starts the thread. Messagaes (2), (3), and (7)are direct replies to (1). Messages (4) and (6) are direct replies to(3), and (5) replies directly to (4). (8) starts a new thread. Whatwould be the best way to do something like this, without having tosearch message (1) for all messages under it, and getting (2), (3), and(7), then searching (2) for all messages under it, and getting nothing, and so on?Thanks for the help...Dennis-------------------------------------------------------------This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list
