I have a running system using this trick since a year as my intranet and all my staff use various version of Netscape (including me) and Explorer. This trick allow you to grab username and password from a form and send the user to a protected page without that ugly dialog box. The method I use has been posted on this list, check the archives. Another subscriber of the list used it and we exchanged a few mail to comment on this trick. It is now running perfectly on his system too.
