The tie-in is created with very straightforward variables passed to their server, and almost instantaneously you get the results back hitting your response page on your server. All of the variables you pass forward are returned, along with their response codes. (Not only do you get the AVS code back, but also explanations of the various declined codes.) You keep your own merchant account (unless you're starting from scratch and need one... then they can set you up), and I was set up immediately. The website at authnet has clear documentation of the variables, response codes and setup instructions. Anyone considering authorize.net feel free to email me... there's really no dark magic to it. Once I rolled up my sleeves and dug in, I revamped my existing MacAuth section in a day or so. Actually, using WebMerchant/MacAuth was harder because I had to live within its parameters. (And Smith Micro's current Byzantine tangle of templates, includes, dbs, etc. sent me running and screaming to my text editor. You don't need that Store Builder stuff if you're prone to rolling your own. Don't let those templates intimidate you.) I process my cards in real time so people can gain access to the site immediately, based on a valid email address. It was all set up with straightforward WebDNA, just using standard stuff like showif sendmail writefile, nothing esoteric. The only thing I miss is the modem going off telling me I'm making a sale. (Anyone care to point me in the right direction for making an Applescript play a sound?) I can monitor my CC action from any web browser now, and perhaps best of all, finally my site is platform independent should I consider selling the whole thing somewhere down the line.Terry anything@terryfic.com------------------------------------------------------------- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
