Make sure, if you want to run apache under a different user that the user exists! If you don't want to change the user that apache is running under, you can also go to the web-root-folder and trychown -R apache *.dbthis *should* change all files with the .db -extension to the owner apache. The -R option should make it on all subfolders.Hope that helps,Peter----- Original Message ----- From: Kalin Mintchev To: WebCatalog Talk Sent: Friday, November 23, 2001 10:13 AM Subject: apache - nobody??!??1 > > hi > we had an emergency and had to install very quickly a new linux box with WC > 4.0.2. when i installed the newly downloaded version with the shell > script (the rpm was putting the files wherever it wanted) i saw a > message that the user apache should own the new WebCatalog directory. > what happened to the user nobody?!?.. all our databases are owned by > nobody... should all of them be changed to apache? what if we don't > run apache for a webserver?!?!... we have a lot of databases in a lot of > different directories.... it'd be a pain to change every single one... > > > what's going on with apache - nobody? > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------- > This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to > the mailing list . > To unsubscribe, E-mail to: > To switch to the DIGEST mode, E-mail to > Web Archive of this list is at: http://search.smithmicro.com/ > ------------------------------------------------------------- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
