texte = Hi Pedro,We just recently launched our WebDNA-powered online store, Lifestylus, located at http://www.lifestylus.com/. This site extensively uses WebDNA and would be a good example to demonstrate the capabilities of WebDNA to your management. Our site is an ESD (Electronic Software Delivery) storefront for selling software for handheld computers. Since we are a distributor of 3rd party apps, we needed to create a back-end system where the software publishers can upload products, manage sales reports, etc. In addition to the storefront and the software publisher admin site, we also have our own admin site where we set up the software publisher's accounts, edit databases, run triggers, get reports, and manage the store (credits, voids, etc.).Here are some features in each site that demonstrate what you can do with WebDNA:STOREFRONT: - send eCards with a piece of PDA freeware or shareware attached to it - earn and apply lifestyle reward points (similar to frequent flyer miles) - set up customer accounts - get real-time order status - AuthorizeNet integration - digital download of purchased products - gathering customer PDA device IDs during checkout and generating registration numbers based on these IDs on the fly - banner ad engine which displays banners according to a priority matrix - extensive product search capabilities - ability to set customer preferences to customize the site - a utility to help customers select a PDA based on various criteria - announcement list to send emails to customers when new products come out for their interest area - various order emails to customer, eGift recipients, software publishers, and in-house adminSOFTWARE PUBLISHER BACK-END ADMIN: - real-time product management - ability to define product sales (including start/end date and time) - ability to upload product files and images - ability to upload/edit a pool of software serial numbers - ability to define custom algorithms for product registration number generation - ability to export sales data and get daily CSV sales reports via email - real-time sales reports - ability to view real-time sales on a web-enabled PDA - ability to clone productsIN-HOUSE ADMIN: - manage software publisher accounts - manage customer accounts - manage lifestyle reward points - process credits, even on a single lineitem (WebCat defaults to whole orders only) - process voids - manage monthly payments to publishers - re-submit problem orders - view any order, including return history - manage customer download attempts - manage announcement list - manage sales tax payments - manage store datbases (about 50 of them) - ability to run about 25 custom triggers for store maintenance actionsSo, the capabilities are definitely there with WebDNA to do these kinds of things. I've not really found anything that I cannot do with WebDNA. Sometimes it takes a bit of work, but it can be done... And probably with less effort than other environments. Sure, there are the wish-list items that we all want, but for the most part it's a very capable package. SMSI really does need to deliver a modernized version that can do things like arrays, include some debugging tools, separate HTML from WebDNA for better maintenance, etc, since my understanding is that ColdFusion and others do have some capabilities that WebDNA does not (to be fair, these other packages apparently have their limitations as well). Hopefully, the 5.0 release of WebDNA will address these things and keep us happy. :)Hope this helps, Brian -- Brian Wachter Stoneport Technologies, LLC (207) 772-3826 On 7/2/02 12:41 PM, Pedro Rivera wrote:> Does Smith Micro have a list of companies that use WEBDNA?
