I think it has to do with how far you push it. All I do is create a separate instance of the page for robots that omits the arguments in the hyperlinks. Bots don't need a session or a cart. So I change all to The trick comes when you have dynamic content in one template. For this I've used several different solutions, all basically doing the same thing. On OS9 I use Welcome. On OSX I use mod_rewrite. I suppose it could be done using the WebDNA error database, but that I haven't tried. Basically, take a dynamic page link like and change it for bots. Then have a pre-processor grep for web_gen_ and process with the prescribed template, using the value of [sku] as it was parsed from the request. When a non-bot comes to that link, do the opposite and redirect them to template.tpl?sku=[sku]. I've got a music site that does this for the top 24 selling CDs. It keeps googlebot happy. The site is listed on the first results page quite often, depending on the search terms, and depending on the current top 24. Googlebot is constantly coming back for more. Now, if you're talking about changing the content of your site so that bots see a bunch of key words that don't relate to your actual content, that's another can of worms and should not be considered ethical. I don't see an ethical problem with changing your links dynamically so that bots will follow them.Mike ------------------------------------------------------------- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
