If he or she doesn't haveone, their credit card will simply be charged by PayPal, not you. Your feeis as low as a normal merchant account, in the 2 or 3% range, plus 30cents. They also pay you interest on your balance, something my bankdoesn't do. You don't have to have a merchant account. Contrast that toiBill at what, 10 or 15%? Yeah, PayPal's great.I do have a merchant account, but I have been using PayPal in addition toAuthnet for a couple of years now. I run a foot fetish website, anddiscretion is an important issue with many of my customers. With PayPalthere's nothing on their credit card bill to tip off the wife. Also, somepeople just don't want to give their credit card info out all over theplace, especially to adult sites. I have some repeat customers who switchedfrom credit cards to PayPal, some customers who use PayPal to pay with aneCheck (I don't otherwise take eChecks), and some customers who use PayPalwhen their card keeps declining, or don't even have a card. Also, I'mdeveloping another site with three other photographers who all take PayPal,but not credit cards (they do a lot of business on eBay). So I'llincorporate the PayPal stuff into their sections.I don't think I'd rely solely on PayPal, but it's a great addition. I usemy ever growing PayPal account as a slush fund for buying killer highheels, stockings, vintage underwear and other wardrobe (on eBay) for myphoto shoots. :) I think PayPal has proven themselves, and they're here tostay. Remember when credit cards started? They weren't meant to replacecash, it just happened. Maybe in time the same will happen with PayPal as apreferred payment medium on the internet. At first I just had instructions for sending the membership fee to myPayPal account. Then when PayPal instituted webmaster features, I jumpedfor joy. I added it as an alternate method right alongside my shopping cartsystem that ties into authnet. The coding required is nearly identical toauthnet (you specify referring URL in your PayPal settings, and send theresponse page and a couple of other variables ahead; use the response pageto put code for sending custom emails, writing to DBes etc.). If you'vedone authnet, you can set up PayPal with your eyes closed. If you haven'tdone authnet, PayPal is straightforward and well documented. PayPal willeven cobble together the necessary code for you if you want.Probably more than you wanted to know; sorry.TerryAttitude is the only difference between an ordeal and an adventure._____________________________________________________________________(If I don't write back right away, I'm just buried in email.Feel free to nudge me.)=====================================================================-------------------------------------------------------------This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list
