I visited purple haze lavendar. I thought everything looked good and I don't doubt the functionality of Yahoo. I suppose its all what fits best for your needs. Here are my thoughts... Pricing is more and it is also *wierd* from my research. (ref. http://store.yahoo.com/vw/pricing.html) Yahoo: There is a cost for hosting your domain somewhere. $20 - $40? The relevant Yahoo costs: • Monthly: $50.00 • Product Insertion fee:??? WTF? .10 / ave. daily item • transaction fee: .05 / transaction (this is reletively standard) • 3.5% revenue share??? WTF? (applied to any item that originates from *Yahoo networks (whatever that is) • Say you have $1200 products. That is $120/00 per month! • Say you have 20 purchase per day, ave.ing $30, and 1/4 of those are from *Yahoo Networks*... The total of those 150 sales per month is $4,500... You will pay Yahoo $157.50 per month for those sales and you will get $4,342.50. So.. In this scenerio you will pay: $30.00 / mo for regular domain $50.00 / mo mo charge $120.00 /mo PIF $157.50 /mo RS fee $357.50 /mo for your Yahoo store. Lets look at this same store with an Authnet account. Authnet account. • Setup fee. 100 (One time fee that we don't care about for this purpose) • gateway or seller fee: someone can fill this in but I believe it to be minimal (.05 per trans?). • transaction fee: (nulled by yahoo fee not counted (maybe slightly higher than yahoos ie .10)) • domain hosting: $50-$70 ? • SSL Cert: (One time fee that we don't care about for this purpose (maybe 400 max)) • Monthly Charge: $15 - $30 Results considering our 1200 product store scenerio: • Start up fee of possibly $500 • $60.00 monthly hosting • Monthly charge of authnet: $20.00 • Monthly charge on approx 20 sales per day. 50.00 or so (not including nulled transaction fees) Total Monthly cost: $130.00 Review Total Monthly cost of Yahoo: $357.50 Difference of proffit per month: $227.50 Loss for the year by using Yahoo: $2,730 So, to say that Yahoo is better??. I don't have a yahoo store and I am sure it works good for some stores. Other concerns for me would be versitality. Obviously they try to include versitle options, but I doubt they offer language level control. This would ultimately make WebDNA more versitle.
