Yes, you can use the [redirect] method, described below, as a work around for the [protect] tag not working on the default page, when the page is not explicitly defined in the URL. There is another solution. If you are using WebDNA 4.5 or later, you can also specify a 'wildcard' as the value for the following registry key value (described in my last post): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Smith Micro\WebCatalog\SuffixList Set the string value for the above key to '.*' (not including the quotes), and WebDNA will always retrieve the authentication data, even for default pages, and regardless of the file extension. NOTE: You need to restart IIS after changing that key value. -----Original Message----- From: Stuart Tremain [mailto:development@idfk.com.au] Sent: Wednesday, September 24, 2003 6:48 PM To: WebDNA Talk Subject: Re: protect acting looney?? What Tim meant to say was ....... The symptoms are that you are continually "Not Authorized" when you KNOW that your username & password ARE correct. If you have a protect tag on a default html page eg index.tpl, default.htm etc and you are serving from w2k you need a work around. This is due to a W2K problem not WebDNA, Scott can explain if needed I'm sure. Here it is: your "Index" page should be "[Redirect nextpage.html]" That's all you need on that page, of course your "nextpage.html" can be whatever you like. Now on your "nextpage.html" put your protect tag.
