texte = Not necessarrily, (initially, no argument) SCSI is a tried and truetechnology and has proven tolast longer. I'll bet my lunch there is significant difference incustomer supportdemands between SCSI and ATA IDE. I managed a Solarus machine (2cd halfof its life) that controled a SCSI drive stack. These drives spun non-stop for 8 years beforethe first one had to be replaced! (the NVRAM went out before the second drivedid ;-). Good ole seagate. (the drives are still spinning as I passedthe torch to someoneelse (now about 10 years old). They are now making god-awfull grindingnoises :-)Honestly, my problem is probably something indifferent between SCSI and ATA.It is a bit more of a science when talking about drives in Lap-Tops, lessnoise, vibration, perhaps more heat, tighter specs for less space etc. So I'm not yet making a plot to destroy apple (for employing IBM drives) ;-).btw, I may sound long winded, This is because I'm waiting for my HD tobe deliveredtoday and have nothing better to do until it arrives. :-)DonovanKenneth Grome wrote:> > >(why apple decided to put all their money into supporting ATA as opposed> >to SCSI> >is beyond my feeble intelect!)> > ATA is cheaper which makes it possible for apple to price their> products more competitively.> > --> > Sincerely,> Kenneth Grome> -------------------------------------------------------------> Outsource your WebDNA programming for $18 an hour or less!> -------------------------------------------------------------> > -------------------------------------------------------------> This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to> the mailing list
