A county uploads a text file from their back end election system, the WebDNA then processes the file, (we have to do a significant amount of conversion because the client cannot control the out. We have a series of custom procedures to generate a proper text file. Much easier with a delimited file). Basically, a multi-step process: 1.- Conduct the upload using server specific code (we use Webstar 5, OSX) 2.- The file arrives in a directory, and WebDNA highlights the file using a FileInfo context - either looking for a predetermined file name , or showing any file in the upload directory. 3.- The file name is a link that calls a process that reads the file, and appends the database. By using this approach, you can direct where the file goes, what kind of file it is, rename it, run multiple processes, or just about anything your can conceive of with the WebDNA code.
