AFAIK, there has not been written a primer or tutorial that covers file permissions and server deployment in direct regards to WebDNA, you'll have to seek reference material for Apache, Unix/Linux, etc. for whatever your host is running. There is information in the WebDNA talk-list archives regarding permissions though that should be of some help to you. And if you have any questions, this group here is a helpful bunch as you've probably seen so ask away....
